We have the power!

A few weeks ago I posted a petition on Face Book requesting we do what we can to stop the use of pesticides that are killing the bees.  I heard back from my state Rep. The Honorable Ann Kirkpatrick U.S. Representative, Arizona District One.  She informed me she voted for the Pollinator Protection Amendment to the Farm Bill and it passed.  Yeaaaa.  Now the Senate needs to agree.

I once wanted to be a politician.  After taking a few courses for a Masters in Public Administration and working for the State of Minnesota and witnessing how things seemed to work I decided clearly, No I do not want to be a politician.  It seemed to me it was the Public Administrators who wrote the bills, submitted them to a Representative or Senator to bring to the floor...  and when passed they are the ones to interprit the laws and put them into practice. Each Administrator has their area of expertise and the politicians rely on them to assist in understanding the issues and giving direction.

Why am I telling you all of this?  I am remembering that some of the Grass Roots organizations had a huge impact on how the vote went, especially when specific events swayed public opinion and pushed things in the direction of change.

I think we have seen the events that may motivate us to action, this is one of them.  My Wonder Filled Moment is imagining each of you looking up who your Representative or Senator are and shooting them an e-mail letting them know what you think.  There are many more of us then there are of them and we have the vote, we do have the power to change the world.  We just need to accept it.  Are you ready yet?
In Gratitude,
Linda G
