I grew up in Northern Minnesota and in January temperatures
in the 50’s are very rare, 20 degrees below zero is more likely to occur. Now living
in the high mountains of Northern Arizona we get a variety of temperatures in
the winter. It’s January 16th and I was
comfortable sitting out in the sun reading a book, it felt like 60 degrees in
the sun, even though the temperature gauge said 52 degrees. After reading a few chapters of my book I
decided to put it down and rest my eyes.
As I did so I heard the hummingbird singing it’s song of joy. Then I heard a raven pass by with his kaw kaw
of magic and the Jay screaming it’s territorial song, telling me I’m in his
space. Then quiet… and the soft hum of a distant helicopter and
the Kaw Kaw of the Raven somewhere in the distance. During most other times of the year I hear a
symphony of birds singing their beautiful songs. Today one of my Wonder Filled Moments was listening
to the individual voices of the birds.
