Chula went to visit the vet last week and she was so well
behaved I barely recognized her. She is
usually quite a feisty cat. I had hoped after giving her the shots required
they might go ahead and buzz off the matting in her fur. Well, they didn’t, but they did give me a
list of groomers. I recognized one of
the names, a woman who had groomed Chula 4 years ago. The appointment was today. I never asked if it usually takes two people
to shave the matting off a cat. With Chula
it for sure takes two.
Erika was great. Before
we began working on Chula I gave her 6 drops of R & R Essence, Holistic
Animal Care. It helps her to relax a
bit. Chula was very good she allowed
Erica to shave her entire side with just a few little squirms. Erika skillfully moved around Chula’s body
slowly shaving off mounds of fur. Then
Chula had decided that was enough. She
twisted and turned and before long was out of my grasp, jumping off the
table, with a tuft of fur the length of her body trailing behind her. She Ran into another room and hid under a chair,
I went in and talked to her, calmed her
down and gave her another dose of R & R.
She calmed down for a bit, and Erika continued to shave. She took off two more times. The last time Chula ran we cornered her in the bathroom. It was
very stressful for all of us that last few minutes. Chula's wildness did place a few minor scratches on my arm. Finally we had to stop without fully combing her tail. At this point, Chula was panting and hissing if we even
tried to get close to her. Erika was very loving
to both Chula and I. Reminding me to let
her go of Chula rather the get bit by her.
Erika mentioned most cats will submit out of fear, but
not Chula. When she is done knowing that
we are helping her, she will fight like she has to save her life. She has no fear. That’s the Chula I’ve come to know and
love. My Wonder Filled Moment was a few
hours after the grooming when Chula came into the office to sit in the other
chair while I wrote this blog, licking my hand when I placed it near her. Yeahhhh, she forgives me.
In Gratitude,
Linda G
