The Creek

Red Rock Crossing

One of my favorite places near Sedona AZ is Crescent Moon Ranch at Red Rock Crossing.  It is the most photographed rock formation in Sedona. Wanting to go for a nice little walk without dealing with flooding and mud meant going to a fairly busy park. I was feeling the desire for a long stride, stretching my legs and arms as I walked.  I arrived at the park and followed the path in the opposite direction of where I thought I would stop and meditate.  Once I went around the park I headed up a trail and found a space by the creek with only two or three other people.  It was at the bend in the river and the water was roaring lapping over rocks that are usually dry.  I took off my shoes, placed my feet on the rock in front of me and allowed the chilly water to wash over my them.  Once numb I pulled them up under me and did a meditation.  I heard this beautiful drum beat begin a few minutes after I closed my eyes.  When I finally opened them I was quite surprised by the number of people around me.  There was a little girl with her parents splashing in the water as well as at least 4 other people sans shoes checking out the water.  Up the creek a short way was a young woman drumming.  My wonder filled moments were the time I spent at the creek, as the rushing water was cleaning the creek so was the energy removing any negativity from my being.

In Gratitude,
Linda G
